The spectacular mass ascensions take place in the early mornings (while the air is cool) on the weekends and at least once during the week. There are all kinds of shapes - you may see a dragon, pumpkin, squarecrow, cow, rabbit, house, smiley faces, airplane, strawberry, witch, stagecoach, train, Smokey Bear, cars, ice cream cone, and others, along with about every possible color combination. The are also balloon races, night-glows, fireworks, lots of food and refreshment vendors, and some of the balloon operators offer rides. Albuquerque also has plenty of other activities and attractions, as well as some fine dining.
