Think of Augusta and your mind envisions the green jacket awarded each year to the winner of the annual Augusta National, as well as the azaleas, magnolias, dogwoods and the course's signature 12th hole.
There are a number of other fine courses in the Augusta area, a town that seems to broadcast the ambience and presence of pro golf and pro golf legends. A few courses are private, but there are also public courses in Augusta and the surrounding area. In addition to the private Augusta National, some of the other courses include Augusta Country Club (private), Applewood, Augusta Municipal, Forest Hills, Goshen Plantation Country, Gordon Lakes, Green Meadows (private), Jones Creek, Pointe South, and River Golf Club. There is also great golf in Aiken, South Carolina with nine courses, 20-30 minutes east of Augusta.
