Although not a huge number of courses, the wonderous backdrop of the natural beauty for the courses and the many other fine attractions in the area, Colorado Springs, Colorado is included in the top 25 list. Located within the city, the historic and beautiful Broadmoor Resort is one of the finest resorts in the country. The Broadmoor's first golf course (the East Course) when completed in 1918, was the highest 18-hole golf course in the United States. Numerous tournaments have been held on this course over the years. The Broadmoor has a total of 45 holes of scenic and challenging golf. Some of the other courses include Appletree, Cherokee Ridge (Par 3 and 9-hole courses, Gleneagle, Kissing Camels (private), Patty Jewett (18- and 9-hole courses), Pine Creek, Springs Ranch, and Valley Hi Municipal.
With Colorado Springs' mild climate, most area courses can be played all year with occasional interruptions for winter snows. Other attractions include Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Seven Falls, and Manitou Cliff Dwellings.
