Santa Monica Bay makes up a 50-mile stretch of shoreline, which includes 22 public beaches where activities such as sunbathing, swimming, surfing, skin or scuba diving, sports fishing or bicycling are just some of the fun things to do. And then there is the famous Santa Monica Pier with street entertainers and which also hosts the new Pacific Park Amusement Center. They have a roller coaster ride that raises five stories above the ocean and makes two 360-degree turns above two other rides in the park. You won’t want to miss a ride on the Pacific Wheel, California’s giant Ferris Wheel that stands nine stories high and has the best view of the Santa Monica Mountains and everything in between! Of course there’s always the Third Street Promenade, a pedestrian mall with shopping, cafes, stores, movie theatres, and people watching for you to check out.
Some of the natural aspects of the area include a 22-mile long beach bike path which extends from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach offering a bluff-top view of the parks, where you can observe a wide range of natural habitats, and of course, the Bay. Rent a bike or roller blades and check it out. This place is really spread out and so are the attractions - plan your trip so you don’t miss anything.
